GREEN

courtesy : google image

A young maiden of Rajasthan* sings

“Green grasses are in my dream

Just as those heavenly drops are

My heart breaks seeing these

Manes of a dead lion

Rooted in the ground

Let my long dark hair

Veil the blazing blue above

Let my tears and sweat

Reach their roots

So that they dream and be green”

Crooning thus the maiden

Walks through the sands

To make her pitcher full

*Rajasthan is India's largest state by area. It is located on the western side of the country, where it comprises most of the wide and inhospitable Thar Desert and shares a border with Pakistan along the Sutlej-Indus river valley. Wikipedia
