REFRIGERATOR
As she opened the door
Icy serpentine words rushed
Spitting venom
Thousand split-tongues danced
She bore the wild attack
Unperturbed
And became a candle
She wanted to wrap them
Melt them, make them glow
Just as the silver threads of the moon
Keep on weaving radiant garments
For black night
Wow, what a great foray into the challenge -- I don't know if the "she" here is Sylvia Plath, or the writer, or some other victim of poetry, but the conceit is wonderful. Opening the cold tomb of the muses, getting blasted by what is find there, using it to refilament the moon. Loved it --
ReplyDeletemy fav part are the last couple lines the weaving of the garment by the moon...sounds rather pandora's box there in the beginning...
ReplyDeleteShe has wonderful strength! Really liked how you were able to bring these 2 prompts together - not 2 that I would have thought would have been able to go together well. You proved they could!
ReplyDeletespooky....serpents
ReplyDeleteSumana, this is an amazing poem. The following lines are very captivating, "Just as the silver threads of the moon
ReplyDeleteKeep on weaving radiant garments
For black night."
Love the . . . thousand split-tongues danced and the silver threads of a moon to weave garments.
ReplyDeletePerhaps if we worked with all perceived enemies like this, unperturbed, we'd find ways to weave together.

Beautiful thought there... something to aspire to but it is hard.
The image of moon weaving radiant garments is wonderful. Well-penned.
