Thorny Path (A Tanka)

courtesy : google images

Thorny path for me

Thou hast laid to walk for life

Thy Name’s my refuge

I walk with my feet unscathed

I sing, “Hallowed be Thy Name”

  9. Those thorny parts of the path are very hard to navigate. There is no denying that. We just have to keep moving, not getting stuck in the thorns. It is reassuring to know there is Someone with us as we walk, even when the thorns seem never ending.

  19. Oh, I love this. A traditional Tanka in Old English language. As an enthusiast of both, I'd say you did really well with the meter & choice of old english here. Great piece!

  25. A beautiful tanka, Sumana. I have been working on one for some time now and find the form deceptively tricky.
