Reading your last line, it seems open to interpretation. However after reading Susie's wonderful dissertation one can readily see that there is a terrible price, loss of sight of the maker, that those ancients faced for having their lace. The sorry thing is that child labor as an expendable commodity abounds still in our world today. .. ..
interesting turn in that last line...i like the allusion of it toward lace as well...the possession of beauty is a scary thing...
