LIGHT AND DARK

courtesy : google image

Spectacular seasons

Come and go

No unfulfilled promise

Do they show

There is joy in living

There is joy in dying

A death is a birth

They utter in mirth

They are words of the

Passage of time

In darkness and light

Do they chime

  1. smiles....light and dark are often what we make of them...the shadow of a tree can be as sweat as the kiss of the sun on our skin...and death as much a relief as life...

  2. Wow, Sumana! Sometimes I feel us on the same wave length. I like the ending words so much: show, mirth, chime ... Let me feel part of all of them, and of the joy too. Thank you.

  7. Not easy to retain this optimism in the face of death.
But we carry death within us from birth. Well said with unusual rhyme words as a treat.

  8. Darkness and light indeed do chime, Sumana. We can't have one without the other. I think we all need to find joy in the dying.....in order to make sense of the living. I always enjoy your poetry, Sumana.

  17. Couldn't help but wonder if you meant reincarnation in the line: death is a birth cause I am studying Hinduism and Buddhism at the moment and did a paper on it. But anyway, love the simplicity and the reference to the seasons.
