Patterns of Time
Let my brief glow
In the blackness of stasis
Create a ripple of light
Let my white root delve deep
Into the dark path
And send up a wave of life
All life is a moment’s pattern
Like flash of fireflies
Dancing in the night

Beautiful Sumana.. delightful patterns. the last stanza was sublime.
ReplyDeleteYes, the brief glow that is our life. So well expressed in this.
ReplyDeleteyes, let me be the light that ripples out...that touches the farthest shore...and it comes in contact with between...I like that hope...
ReplyDeleteThese free verse stanzas explore the light - the energy that is life - those particles that travel so far and so fast - light and its transformations is the substance of the universe and we, humans, are with it, in it, made of it. Beautifully rendered here, recording it as patterns.
ReplyDeleteSorry if too off topic..but the flower of what i remember on Victoria's site..is one that lives in my yard too..an amazing pattern of GOD is in it..that cannot be mistaken wherever Uni Verses go..
ReplyDeleteBut i have to wonder..technical speak per patterns i guess..some places have more or less evidence of GOD..
There are more churches per square mile than any other locality in the US in my local area..at one point in Guinness record book..
But there are more flowers..
perhaps that any where in
the world...
Life is amazing..i hope you have beautiful flowers where you life..2..if not there.. i'm sure in you..:)
Beautiful uplifting final lines - may all of our little lights shine on - K
ReplyDeleteSumana, your Light shines so brightly! I am glad my dance is simultaneous, at least partly. I will keep this poem for its radiance.
ReplyDeleteLovely and heartwarming, thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful...Your light is peace...I find it every time I visit here. Thanks so much for being part of the challenge!
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely Sumana, natures patterns continuously amaze me.
ReplyDeleteah...I like the idea of a 'moment's pattern'...brief, fleeting, but a pattern none the less
ReplyDeleteI like it Sumana, life is brief, our light is brief. 'Life cycle of the human.'
ReplyDeleteFlitting around our parts of the earth, leaving trails of light where they have been. The tails dim, their leading edges grow, then a light goes out, new replaces.
..
I agree!
ReplyDeleteYes, all life is a moment's pattern indeed; and we must make the moment's pattern count!
ReplyDeleteYou have used beautiful imagery throughout your poem, Sumana. My favorite stanzas are the first and last. Your poetry shines tonight.
ReplyDeleteLovely writing--life is a brief beauty, all the more precious for it's momentary brilliance. Excellent!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful... love the last stanza
ReplyDeletebeautifully woven.
ReplyDeleteLovely dance of fireflies...your poem shimmers with beauty!
ReplyDeleteIronical poem for me. This white root of life is a death sentence to flora here. Lantana is classifed as a noxious weed in the Australian bush
ReplyDeleteand there is a hefty fine if it is found growing on your property. It is very pretty and the butterflies are crazy about it, Almost impossible to get rid of once it is established unless you use poison chemicals ...We don't!.
Ah, beautiful--we are not often conscious of the fleeting aspects of it. k.
ReplyDeleteAh, lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful and serene, full of peace and hope :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely in its self-affirmation of peace. I believe that all goodness has that ripple effect and even the smallest energy can reach out and can bring about positivity. It's nice to think about...
ReplyDeletelovely and light write... felt the pattern of motion
ReplyDeleteThis gently reminds me of The Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi, one of my all-time favorites.
ReplyDeletethis is so beautiful.
ReplyDeletelovely words let my brief glow create a ripple of light..
ReplyDeleteLovely and inspiring Sumana.
ReplyDeleteLike a flash of fireflies ~ Beautiful imagery Sumana ~
ReplyDeleteNicely combined on these concepts...I enjoy the visual of the collective moments captured in firefly light.
ReplyDeleteA delicately painted mental picture rises from this poem.
ReplyDeleteA fragile strength here, beautifully written.
