What Swims
Amazing!!
They are swimming!!
One year old babes!
Swimming!
Amazing!!
Amazing is this human race!
They can kill their own kind
And burn their face!
An unpredictable kind
No one knows
What thoughts swim in minds
May be a gigantic mushroom
Snuffing out all life
Or
Birthing of a Christ!!

That IS amazing, little water-babies. Also all of the various possibilities swimming in humankind's minds - the potential for good or evil. Let's keep hoping for the good!

ReplyDeleteSome things children were meant to do and others...
ReplyDeleteA very meaningful poem Sumana. Hope you are having a delightful week.
Oh, yes! Some women even brth babies in water. From the sweet to the tragic, from the ridiculous to the sublime-- what amazements swim inside the human mind. Thanks for using yours to produce this powerful poem.
ReplyDeletei liked how the poem started innocently then moved to being curious, reflective. the philosophy of life...
ReplyDeleteOh, these newdays babies quite special with their own world of connection and intuitive knowledge...cute pic. :)x
ReplyDeleteWhat great potential humans have fulfilled and what disasters created too. Very insightful post.
ReplyDeleteMiracles happen-humans are born in water...cannot live without water...deep thoughts
ReplyDeleteI think you painted a much bigger picture than you pasted...insightful !!
ReplyDeleteI felt such a strong voice in this. Love the perplexity over the human race that teaches babies to swim yet is so immature that all of life may be extinguished by ignorance. Am I reading too much into this?
ReplyDeleteWe all know how to swim, we just get taught to be scared.
ReplyDeleteWow! You have perfectly captured the great dichotomy of human deeds - the wild divergence between the capacity for life affirming exploits and life annihilating atrocities.
ReplyDeletethought provoking lines..beautiful Sumana
ReplyDeleteI love the change of mood in the piece. Really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Sumana,
ReplyDeleteA wonderful sight and sign of progression, when a little child makes its first moves. Then the path of life and those unknown challlenges. Rather like the need to sink or swim, when those difficulties arise..
Great prompt Sumana,
Eileen
You are right, no one knows...dreams, or nightmares....
