Thou Art The Sun
I scoop the sun from the dark night
And hang it over my drenched soul
Each drop of tears turns into light
As I scoop the sun from the night
Icy crust of fear loses might
The broken vessel becomes whole
As I scoop the sun from the night
And hang it over my drenched soul

Sumana, this is the most beautiful poem ever. The image is perfect too. It is true, pain might be the single greatest source of enlightenment.....it hones and hollows us, until we shine. I especially love "each drop of tears turns into light." Exactly.
ReplyDeleteBless you, dear Sumana. You put great emotions and learnings into small spaces by scooping to hang like laundry, saetting aside to dry like a clay pot ... and here I too find light, here I too become whole. This form allows a salve "to form." Thank you!
ReplyDeleteVery cool that Sherry and I both posted at exactly 12:24! I'm saving your poem in my file of poems I don't want to live without.

What more can I add? This is shimmery and golden.
ReplyDeleteThat innermost sense within us tells us that with the sun all things are possible as it is not only the generator of our lives but the motivator for all that we can do.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and poignant - it is such a moving piece, yet soothing to the soul.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this. Poignant and almost ethereal. A wonderful creation.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe must hold onto the sun..keep it close and let it shine - beautiful and illuminating
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely a poet's delight, Sumana! :))))) The poem is emotionally rich..and as it progresses, the thought does not merely "rise" but orbits away from the dark. Life is symbolized with a battle which means we have to do something to keep us alive. Great piece...:)
ReplyDelete'I scoop the sun's is such a rich refrain!
