On My Girl
“Isn’t there any recent photo of her?”
“Many. But I want her to dwell in my heart
only”
“I am so sorry. I didn’t mean…
“It’s okay. There’s touch of her
On the floors
On the walls
On the garden path
Everywhere outside
Where all could see her
Now it’s only her and me
In my heart
She will reside
Till my Deep slumber”

So heart touching and the traces of love are everywhere even after its long gone............
ReplyDeleteA sad reminder.
ReplyDeleteThis is so incredibly real.. the sorrow when bereft linger everywhere.. the air itself seem to be filled with those that left. Very real when you bring it in as a conversation, I felt like a fly on the wall.
ReplyDeleteHa. Ok, this can be read a couple ways. First, really endearing with hints of her still all around him. But the first time I read it I was thinking he killed her and there were bits of her everywhere.
ReplyDeleteSorry, it is probably just my sick twisted mind. Ha.
I like that she resides with you in your heart ~ A very touching write Sumana ~
ReplyDeleteI do understand this poem, Sumana. The heart does not need a photographic reminder. The heart just knows what the heart knows, and that is enough.
ReplyDeleteThis is so touching... indeed our beloved.. reside inside our hearts.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully penned.
Lots of love,
Sanaa
There is much truth in this--photos may serve as reminders but they do not encompass a person in the same way those memories within us do.
ReplyDeleteSo true.. deepest
