Perfection
Touch of perfection is everywhere
In every sphere
From an atom to a nebula
Think of a rose
Its softness
Its fragrance
So dreamlike
It needs to have thorns too
That’s what makes it perfect
Like our life
Bubbling and waving and roaring
Then Stops flowing
By Death’s restful hands
Perfection is this unique balance

I like the idea that we can find perfection everywhere, Sumana. And so true that a rose is perfect despite its thorns. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteSuch an insightful poem Sumana :D I agree that the touch of perfection is found in the balance which is restored in the universe. Thanks for your kind participation :D
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Sanaa
Thorns and all... lovely
ReplyDeleteI love this sentiment - perfection needs those thorns.
ReplyDeleteLife and death...two parts of perfection. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteIn the quest for perfection, we may overlook the simply beauty in flaws.
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to accept that death is part of the plan until we think really hard about what life means...each one of us has chance but it is not always up to us to fulfill our own desires.
ReplyDeleteLife isn't always smooth. There's a hidden beauty in rough surfaces too but often taken for granted.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Sumana.
when we look at nature and the universe.. we can find so many perfect things.. beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the line - From an atom to a nebula - and the notion that we are perhaps blind to perfection..perhaps everything is as intended which makes it so...a wonderfully thoughtful and reflective poem to start the year..
ReplyDeleteHi Sumana!
ReplyDeleteI love your poem here. You're saying that flaws and things that bite in our lives are all part of our perfect design. You are a genius! one of my favorite poems!
"It needs to have thorns too
ReplyDeleteThat’s what makes it perfect"
oh indeed, perfection is perfectly imperfect.
I too love the idea of the thorns making a rose perfect! Life needs both the dark and light for perfection.
ReplyDeleteDonna@LivingFromHappiness
loved the point about balance !
ReplyDeleteI love this! For I believe that perfection is lost when we try to define it as something that lacks all unwanted things. But like your poem suggests, a rose without thorns is not perfect at all.
ReplyDeleteOh, harsh and beautiful and true: that tougch of perfection can sting.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautifully true.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Sumana Ma'am :)
Yes, perfection must entail a bit of pain as well. A great insight!
ReplyDeleteThorns, the perfect protection for the perfect flower.
ReplyDeleteI so agree. Perfection can be found in all things...even the so-called flawed. And I like how you portray Death's hands as "restful." Yes.
ReplyDeletefrom atom to nebula...and that nebula is made of...atoms. Perfect circle. Perfection in the circle of creation, birth, life, death...Life without death is only endless life. The completion of the cycle makes perfection. Wonderful poem.
ReplyDeleteNice...I'd add to perfection 'divine' ~ divine perfection.
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts... well written

Beautiful insight. There is a subtle cadence in this piece that adds to the message when the poem is spoken aloud.
ReplyDeleteReally like the idea that a rose's thorns are part of its perfection. How easy to apply that to individuals. Very thoughtful piece,
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
"from atom to a nebula" terrific image of the spectrum as is the "restful hands of Death"
ReplyDeleteNice. Life and all is perfect, the way it should be, even when we don't like it.
ReplyDeletePerfection is this unique balance
ReplyDeletePerfectly said for perfection is a balance in relativity. Perfection can be gauged when it is relative to something imperfect!
Hank
So well said... :)
ReplyDeleteThe black and the white.. the grey.
ReplyDeleteperfection
That's such a hopeful view....Lovely!
ReplyDeleteoh wow, this is a new perspective on perfection.
ReplyDeleteyou have opened my eyes! :)
hummmm......and it is only when you reach 'it' can you say prefection, when all seems so much confusion.
ReplyDeleteWhat a powerful end line, luv it so much.
