Perfection

source

Touch of perfection is everywhere

In every sphere

From an atom to a nebula

Think of a rose

Its softness

Its fragrance

So dreamlike

It needs to have thorns too

That’s what makes it perfect

Like our life

Bubbling and waving and roaring

Then Stops flowing

By Death’s restful hands

Perfection is this unique balance

  1. I like the idea that we can find perfection everywhere, Sumana. And so true that a rose is perfect despite its thorns. Smiles.

  5. In the quest for perfection, we may overlook the simply beauty in flaws.

  6. It is so hard to accept that death is part of the plan until we think really hard about what life means...each one of us has chance but it is not always up to us to fulfill our own desires.

  7. Life isn't always smooth. There's a hidden beauty in rough surfaces too but often taken for granted.

    Happy New Year, Sumana.

  9. I love the line - From an atom to a nebula - and the notion that we are perhaps blind to perfection..perhaps everything is as intended which makes it so...a wonderfully thoughtful and reflective poem to start the year..

  10. Hi Sumana!
I love your poem here. You're saying that flaws and things that bite in our lives are all part of our perfect design. You are a genius! one of my favorite poems!

  12. I too love the idea of the thorns making a rose perfect! Life needs both the dark and light for perfection.

  14. I love this! For I believe that perfection is lost when we try to define it as something that lacks all unwanted things. But like your poem suggests, a rose without thorns is not perfect at all.

  19. I so agree. Perfection can be found in all things...even the so-called flawed. And I like how you portray Death's hands as "restful." Yes.

  20. from atom to nebula...and that nebula is made of...atoms. Perfect circle. Perfection in the circle of creation, birth, life, death...Life without death is only endless life. The completion of the cycle makes perfection. Wonderful poem.

  24. Really like the idea that a rose's thorns are part of its perfection. How easy to apply that to individuals. Very thoughtful piece,

  27. Perfection is this unique balance

Perfectly said for perfection is a balance in relativity. Perfection can be gauged when it is relative to something imperfect!
