APRIL-16

SILENT FILMS, SPRING & GOD
(Two Tankas)

Pictures in motion
Grand silence in monochrome
A fountain of joy
Year round spring for music-men
Cuckoo, cardinals in hearts

While divas twinkled
Charlie showered wits and mirth
Mood setter tinting
All religiously loved work
Blooming made each day holy

  1. That's a lovely picture you chose for your poem, Sumana.

  2. What an amazing combination of prompts! I see how the film tried to keep us cheerful (with a few major exceptions) and that has become a church of sorts for some who attend religiously. A fine comparison, tightly written! Is it then Holy? The movie theatre, I mean.

  3. ha i used to love silent films...we watched them on sundays at grammas....i like the line the constant spring of musicians...i think in just playing they often find joy.

  4. Movies have come a long way since then, but I think have lost some of the innocence and magic in those early ones.......too much realism, gore and violence.

  5. Once in a while it is fun to watch a silent film and see how far movies have come.... I do like the idea that each day can be holy in its own way.
