Poetic Justice

source

We are the people of Stupidity Street*

For us remains a blind sky

A blanket of rheumy air

A few dead sparrows

A scarecrow

In a desert

And sighs

Of poets

*I used the title ‘Stupidity Street’ of Ralph Hodgson’s poem here.

  6. I found the link to Hodgson's eerie poem! Yours is harsher still, echoing the world ending of TS Eliot and Sherry, along with the sighs of us poets. Whew!

  7. Whew, Sumana! I like the way you can write poems of various types. Not sure I want to live on "Stupidity Street." Smiles.

  8. Sumana,

Stupidity Street, is suffering from overcrowding I would think. So many stuffed together, of the same outlook..Following one after the other..Superb image..

  10. Poetic indeed. The time when those who knew better and were ignored is always upon us.

  17. Great poem, Sumana, outlining succinctly what we as foolish humans get - exactly what we deserve if we live on "Stupidity Street" and ignore the "sighs of poets"...

  18. This is so intense and scathing. You landed your deserved outrage adroitly with a few extremely well chosen words. Excellent writing, Sumana.
