Let Go

We can’t uproot a sorrow

From that heart space

And plant happiness

In its stead

What we do is

Breathe in and breathe out

Time

In the hope of healing

Which is as absurd as sky blossoms

For I’ll never let go

Your smile

Your tears

Your voice

Your fears

They have crystallized

In that open space

Within my being

  2. Absolutely! Well said.. you can't overlay the pain and memories, only heal slowly so you can deal with it so much better. Stay strong!

  3. I agree you never let go. You were part of them and they part of you that never disappears.

  4. Emotions can't all be "happy" - Sorrows/fears etc play an important part as well...

  5. Palpable pain of loss. Healing varies with individuals in regard to the time it takes. Never easy.

  7. Absurd as sky blossoms - what a beautiful line - as beautiful as you hold onto the one you love - your way..holding on isn't necessarily sorrowful..nor should it be changed..our heart is the place where we can hold all that's dear to us..and as long as it is part of our being it can never be taken away again

  9. Our brain, our memory, our inner endless replay tape, is not our friend. Sorrow remembered is sorrow relived. There is no fading with time.

  10. I thought that was lovely. Greetings!

  11. Hmm. Some memories are worth reliving and holding on to, but I agree with Cosmo. Sorrow remembered is sorrow relived, and that can be let go, I feel. Very lovely poetry!

  12. We all have sorrow in our lives, and yeah its not easy to just uproot it, sometimes you have to just go through it - to allow yourself to grieve, even the smallest things lost. Until we grieve we can never really let go.

  13. So true...what we can do is breathe in and breathe out & do it again and again and again. And as far as never letting go...I am thinking about that. Perhaps we continue to always hold on, but the holding on changes over time. But we certainly do keep those memories alive & close to our heart....forever.

  15. i think we can always say 'let go" but really doing it is another matter, because these emotions can reside deeply in us, and yes, it can be a source of strength too.
this is a very lovely post. :)

  16. Lovely post, Sumana. A reminder how one could be a part of someone's life that is very hard to let go - physically, yes but memories always remain forever.

  17. The pain and sense of loss left behind by someone we loved with all our hearts is an eternal thing, it seems. It might change its shape, we might learn to express it and see it differently... but like your poem suggests, it never really goes away. It becomes part of us--making us grow with its mark. ♥

  18. Sumana, this is exactly it. We dont want to let go. Instead, we create a space within, where sorrow and their memory live. You have expressed it perfectly. So beautifully.

  19. of course Sumana. "Let go" is only an option

  20. This is tender and beautiful. You will never let go, but time perhaps will heal a little of the pain. Love too is healing medicine. May you have lots of it.

  21. So very real. We make and mark that space and never really let go. I believe that is a good thing because it allows us to be compassionate beings,

  29. Lovely and true. If only we could uproot a sorrow. But then we would have to let go, wouldn't we - of smiles, of tears ... and that would be another kind of sorrow.
