Let Go
We can’t uproot a sorrow
From that heart space
And plant happiness
In its stead
What we do is
Breathe in and breathe out
Time
In the hope of healing
Which is as absurd as sky blossoms
For I’ll never let go
Your smile
Your tears
Your voice
Your fears
They have crystallized
In that open space
Within my being

poignant post, I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Well said.. you can't overlay the pain and memories, only heal slowly so you can deal with it so much better. Stay strong!
ReplyDeleteI agree you never let go. You were part of them and they part of you that never disappears.
ReplyDeleteEmotions can't all be "happy" - Sorrows/fears etc play an important part as well...
ReplyDeletemake us realize how much we love, makes us stronger.
DeletePalpable pain of loss. Healing varies with individuals in regard to the time it takes. Never easy.
ReplyDeleteSumana, this was beautiful! It usually takes time to heal from wounds of the heart, mind, body, and soul. Peace be with you wise one. smiles.
ReplyDeleteAbsurd as sky blossoms - what a beautiful line - as beautiful as you hold onto the one you love - your way..holding on isn't necessarily sorrowful..nor should it be changed..our heart is the place where we can hold all that's dear to us..and as long as it is part of our being it can never be taken away again
ReplyDeleteIt is said that time is the best healer - this is such a heartfelt piece.
ReplyDeleteWishing you peace and loads of love.

Our brain, our memory, our inner endless replay tape, is not our friend. Sorrow remembered is sorrow relived. There is no fading with time.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was lovely. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteHmm. Some memories are worth reliving and holding on to, but I agree with Cosmo. Sorrow remembered is sorrow relived, and that can be let go, I feel. Very lovely poetry!

We all have sorrow in our lives, and yeah its not easy to just uproot it, sometimes you have to just go through it - to allow yourself to grieve, even the smallest things lost. Until we grieve we can never really let go.
ReplyDeleteSo true...what we can do is breathe in and breathe out & do it again and again and again. And as far as never letting go...I am thinking about that. Perhaps we continue to always hold on, but the holding on changes over time. But we certainly do keep those memories alive & close to our heart....forever.
ReplyDeleteSome memories are too precious to let go but we can go on, each day beautiful as the sky blossoming ~
ReplyDeletei think we can always say 'let go" but really doing it is another matter, because these emotions can reside deeply in us, and yes, it can be a source of strength too.
ReplyDeletethis is a very lovely post. :)
Lovely post, Sumana. A reminder how one could be a part of someone's life that is very hard to let go - physically, yes but memories always remain forever.
ReplyDeleteThe pain and sense of loss left behind by someone we loved with all our hearts is an eternal thing, it seems. It might change its shape, we might learn to express it and see it differently... but like your poem suggests, it never really goes away. It becomes part of us--making us grow with its mark. ♥
ReplyDeleteSumana, this is exactly it. We dont want to let go. Instead, we create a space within, where sorrow and their memory live. You have expressed it perfectly. So beautifully.
ReplyDeleteof course Sumana. "Let go" is only an option
ReplyDeletehave a nice Sunday
much love...
This is tender and beautiful. You will never let go, but time perhaps will heal a little of the pain. Love too is healing medicine. May you have lots of it.
ReplyDeleteSo very real. We make and mark that space and never really let go. I believe that is a good thing because it allows us to be compassionate beings,

I don't think we can ever let go of the memories of those we love and why would we....such a beautiful poem!
ReplyDeleteDonna@LivingFromHappiness
So beautifully expressed! I agree with every word.
ReplyDeleteAnd - in never letting go, you did. It was very free flowing and quite lovely. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!!
ReplyDeletewonderful and true
ReplyDeletegracias
Great way to express live for another filling you up.
ReplyDeleteLetting go isn't easy....sometimes impossible. Those you mention have become a part of us.
ReplyDeleteI can really relate to this poem. It is very hard to let go.
ReplyDeletePowerful Statement about "Sky Blossoms" :-)
ReplyDelete...and Love

Lovely and true. If only we could uproot a sorrow. But then we would have to let go, wouldn't we - of smiles, of tears ... and that would be another kind of sorrow.
