Towards Light

courtesy google image: by Khalil Gibran

This life is a child’s play with a doll house, at least for me. I had been playing like the luminous clouds hiding the sun, like the lunar smile outshining the sequined sky. Everyone is my playmate. I have played through squabbles and reconciliation, dislike and love. Like a river dancing along its banks and rushing seaward I’ve touched and been touched even by those whom I haven’t met and flowing towards the infinite with the hope of Seeing Thou, my ultimate Playmate. My doll’s house is broken though and the doll gone. Yet play is not done.

The past a thin mist

I sit by the radiant path

Eyes towards a light

The quote I chose: Yesterday is but today’s memory, and tomorrow is today’s dream

  5. This is very touching, Sumana. Speaks to the fact that we have to go on living even after 'the doll' is gone. Thankfully, the light still remains and there are others who touch one on the journey homeward. Loved the haiku -- I see a person on the path with views of past and future.

  6. I specially love this part:

My doll’s house is broken though and the doll gone. Yet play is not done.

And that haiku line, eyes towards the light, speaks of hope and love ~ Thanks for participating in our Haibun Monday ~

  8. Sumana, this is beautiful and touching. A broken, empty doll house is such a sad image. But there's hope in this writing too. And that's what will sustain you. Your faith will too. Through your words, I sense your strength.

  11. Most of us lose the doll, & find the doll house in need of repair, but I agree that the inner child, the playfulness can remain. Very touching
haibun & lovely dark yet hopeful haiku.

  13. This is absolutely breathtaking, Sumana. The broken dollhouse, the doll gone......."I sit by the radiant path". And you shine.

  14. I kinda took the broken dollhouse line as even though things happen in life, you still play on and live on. maybe I am reading it wrong but that is how it struck me.

  17. Yes, always towards the light. I liked the promise in this, drawing me deeper. None of us play enough, do we? Even with our sadness...
