Black Hole

source

It’s a sun,

And not a fly

Yet it’s trapped in the web

Of a super massive spider

While being slowly eaten

It struggles to survive

Streams of stellar debris

Come out like sighs

Death spares none

You may be a star

Or a fly

  1. We are just stars that glimmer briefly before being eaten by the stars.

  3. How small we really are when stars even galaxies are just as vulnerable as we are. Beautifully written Sumana.

  4. That super massive spider gives me the creeps! Love how a star and a fly are equals in the face of death. Also, re-reading and glancing at the picture in the process makes me see the things you describe. Awesome. Thanks for the read!

  5. your description of a black hole as the web of a super massive spider is so appropriate, because nothing can escape from it once it is trapped.
    nice! :)

  6. Oh, I do hope to be a star and not a fly. We all struggle to survive in our own way.

  7. A star or a fly - what a profound question - perhaps we are both but in what proportion is what counts

  8. The Black Hole with all of its mysteries is an equalizer. It does not discriminate but imposes its will and power that dares cross its path

  9. Wow, Sumana.....what amazing imagery. I love "streams of stellar debris come out like sighs". How lovely. I choose being a star, LOL.

  10. Yes, I loved that 'star or a fly!' We are born, we exist....and we die. Sometimes we forget...

  11. Fabulous....we are captured by nature aren't we whether a web or a black hole, our time is finite here....I would rather blaze bright as a star before it encounters the black hole.

  12. The first two lines and the last two - love how they tie together the in between. Small or large, we are all subject to an ending. Very wise write.

  14. Where there is life - there is change. And where there is life - there is death. A very thoughtful piece. It beautifully articulates a perception that, I think, is fundamental to creative and effective contemplation ... and that is, that: nothing and no one has a "lock" on the whole scheme of things. An awesome write, Sumana.

  15. Somehow the end of poem got me by surprise...and I read again, and again....just enormous image you created! Stars we are , and fly can serve as a verb....then sure, we're the stars which fly and move our planet! Vivat! :)

  16. each a star and sometimes stars burn out as they shoot across the sky...we live and we die..the journey is in between and I think we should make the most of that journey...
