TWO TANKAS ON SUCCESS
In each birth and death
Nature scripts Her success tale
I take cue from Her
Rivers dance to death in sea
Downward rushes blooming tree
Each deed done by Man
Is a link of success chain
I take cue from Him
Space shuttle Columbia

I love your original take on success in both of these, the way you have tied them together, and the beautiful closing lines of each.
ReplyDelete"rivers dance to death in sea" Damn, I love the mental picture you just gave me! Nice poem! :)
ReplyDeleteoh dang....each of these has pop...the second a bit of shock, because it surely did...i think i like the first best though....very cool
ReplyDeleteThese are the BEST poems, separately and together! Amazing lines/images from the very first "In each birth and death / Nature scripts Her success tale" to every way you illustrate. Taking "cue from Him" and the horror of the space shuttle ... O! And I love the theatre of it all--script and cue, dance and deed. Take a bow, Sumana Roy!

ReplyDeleteStunning lines !! fell in love with the poem..
I like the first one. Nature determines success or not.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful entwining of success to both, Sumana! Yes, success can be marred by tragedy too! Great write!
ReplyDeleteHank
I love the rhythm and magic in the first piece..nicely contrasted with the sense of work and human effort in the second
ReplyDeleteI specially like the first one:

Lovely work ~
These tankas are so thoughtful. "Rivers dance to death in sea" I think, is one of those lines of poetry that comes to mind again and again . . . lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love your interpretation of success. Nature indeed succeeds (she's got the perfect formula for living) and man's deeds are links in their chains of success. I also like to think that since we are all connected that we are also part of Nature's and Man's success. Wow both were great writes Sumana.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant tankas Sumana!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I really like the idea of a success chain. I think we can find what we search for in life. It is better to find a 'success chain' than a 'failure chain' I think. Enjoyed your thoughts.
