THE OWL

Why has Lakshmi* chosen the owl?
Goddess of fortune with Dark Knight?
No one dares to be out and prowl
Why has Lakshmi chosen the owl?
A scampering mouse finds night foul
Lakshmi’s bounty makes ploughmen bright
Why has Lakshmi chosen the owl?
Goddess of fortune with Dark Knight?

*In Hindu religion Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity and She has a white owl as her carrier. I think she seems to assure agricultural prosperity as her owl provides a free service of eradicating rodents and thus securing a good harvest…..

HAPPY  HOLI

Boisterous Holi comes with Spring

Dawn makes sure that the day shines bright
Dark desires burnt in the night

Frolicsome spirits dance and sing
Blooms burst colors to make bees hum
Boozers doze with carafe and rum

All squirt colors feud forgetting
The Sun above promises warmth
Tropical heat muses in mirth

Hearts in bright hues much rejoicing
Bliss wafts silently through the air
Though coal-black moments are not rare

Through ages flow merry-making
In all lands in different name
If I’m not happy who’s to blame?

Boisterous Holi comes with Spring

Frolicsome spirits dance and sing
All squirt colors feud forgetting
Hearts in bright hues much rejoicing
Through ages flow merry-making

* Holi (English pronunciation: /ˈhoʊliː/) (Sanskrit: होली) is a spring festival also known as festival of colours, and sometimes festival of love.[3][4] It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities.[ The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships5]

 I  HAD  NO  FORESIGHT
google image

As the Hilsa fry* melt in my palate
I am in heaven
And all those shiny heavenly bodies
Become meat balls and pies
To thousand children’s dreamy eyes
I sigh

As I savor each page of Hungry Tide**
I am in heaven
And all the words of heavenly manna
Become hard rock and stone
On thousand minds’ treading zone
I moan

As He in Heaven smiles and asks
“What have you fed your soul with?”
I remain silent and become shy
Slowly comes my broken reply
“My soul’s never been hungry”

GUNS and FLOWERS

Trenches bleed
One little seed
Shell-shocked soul
Shoots on bole
Cannons boom
Flowers bloom
Shadow’s mirth
Light’s birth
A bellicose rhyme
For a forest sublime
