APRIL 19

They* walked
On feather feet
And saw
With prism eyes
Took the moon
For a rainbow-ball
They loved
Weaving sunbeam dreams
When the black storm rose
The prism broke
That sad celestial eye
Showered
Gray light
The two shadowy sisters
Hobbled
On brick feet

*Two of my students, who lost both parents in a road accident

 A SONG
(April-18)
                                             courtesy : google image

 With those
Dove-alphabets
The song Written on
The azure paper
Sung by you
Is powerful
To stop
The blood-bath
I sink my quill
In the sun-pot
Copy
Those songs
And whisper
To the wind
To take them
Far and wide

SELF-PORTRAIT
                                            courtesy : google image

I wish
I were
Free
From this mortal cage
Of bone and flesh
Of desire and greed
Of envy and lust
Only to
Glide
On the
Ocean of
Consciousness
Of who I am
Truly
Light
Energy
Purity
Now
Gasping
For a release
Buried under
Layers of mass

COLLECTION

I have seen many a home-wall
Where display plays a great role
Creating mood, taste and
A soothing ambience for all
On the door and window pelmet
Of my parents’ home
There are onlyGanesh* idols
 Even the walls are adorned
With beautiful elephant headed god
Who hangs and swings trunk and a smile
With the bare red paunch and one tusk
He radiates bliss, blessing, myth and siddhi**
I tell ma doesn’t the room look like a shop
With so many Ganeshas in spite of their art value
Ma says would you call your home a bookshop
I remain quiet as I don’t agree
I love a minimalist home (books exception)

*Ganesha (IAST: Gaṇeśa;  listen (help·info)), also spelled Ganesa, also known as Ganapati and Vinayaka is a widely worshipped deity in the Hindu pantheon.[2] His image is found throughout India and Nepal.[3] Hindu sects worship him regardless of affiliations.[4] Devotion to Ganesha is widely diffused and extends to Jains, Buddhists, and beyond India.[5]
Although he is known by many attributes, Ganesha's elephant head makes him easy to identify.[6] Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles,[7] the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom.[8] As the god of beginnings, he is honoured at the start of rituals and ceremonies. Ganesha is also invoked as patron of letters and learning during writing sessions.[9][10] Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with his birth and exploits and explain his distinct iconography.

**Siddhi is a Sanskrit noun which can be translated as "perfection", "accomplishment", "attainment", or "success".[

SILENT FILMS, SPRING & GOD
(Two Tankas)
                                         courtesy : google image

Pictures in motion
Grand silence in monochrome
A fountain of joy
Year round spring for music-men
Cuckoo, cardinals in hearts

While divas twinkled
Charlie showered wits and mirth
Mood setter tinting
All religiously loved work
Blooming made each day holy

APRIL-15
                                         courtesy : google image

Pages crinkled in the old book
I sat with it with searching eyes
Yellow-whisper in musty tone
Filled the room with long sighs
Each word a casement opened wide
Let in the antique world as tide
Spoke in the language of bluebells
Soul was eager in Nature’s tales

Her voice trembled eyes mist covered
She held two birds in her two hands
I hadn’t seen such birds in life
What birds are they? Of which lands?
The sad lips twitched and softly spoke
“My dodos are they whom you broke
Garefowls, Quaggas unending list
You killed all, my defenseless beast

I am Gaia mother of all
Please have mercy on my children
Aggression is bad you know well
Let them play in sun and rain
My skin is scorched my breath’s failing
My heart’s wounded I am ailing
I ask you have you seen my looks?
I don’t want all to live in books”

Letters they became as before
Cuckoo’s song delighted my ears
The leaves in breeze-dance, blooms flashing smile
Were enough to wipe tears
They all echoed Mother Earth’s voice
They left me with no other choice
But to write this tale of the Earth
Whom we know too well from our birth

APRIL-14
The King of Cats, 1935, Balthus

                                                                    (self-portrait)

The brush was his vehicle
To take him
To the mysterious world
Of Color and canvas
And place him there
Forever
He hadn’t forgotten
To take with him
That voyeur feline
They will stare
For centuries
And enjoy visits
To them
Be aware
