WAKING UP

courtesy : google image

“Arise awake stop not till the goal is reached”*

I wonder

What do we do first

Arise then awake

Or do the opposite

What does Swamiji mean

And one morning

I woke up

See, awake first

Then rose to my feet

And arise, later

I wonder

Why did Swamiji say this

I was charting my day

On the terrace

A breezy whisper startled me

"Look around you

And thank the Lord for this

Wake up will you"

I found

The soft baby sun

The Jingling trees

The purple heaven

A solitary star

All looking at me

Singing of flux

I woke up

I was reborn

*this is a quote by Swami Vivekananda (fondly called Swamiji by the people), a Hindu monk of the nineteenth century

A RHYTHMIC DANCE
(A Terzanelle)
courtesy : google image

If there’s a deep depression at the Bay
The bone dry arid land hopes against hope
A storm’s to brew to reach the sky they say

It’s better to rise than sit, brood and mope
What do these dark flying clouds indicate?
The bone dry arid land hopes against hope

Deflated brain waits to be in full spate
The blistering heat’s fighting tooth and nail
The bone dry arid land hopes against hope

The sea’s roaring, the stormy clouds do flail
Droplets poised and the lull’s almost broken
The blistering heat’s fighting tooth and nail

Euterpe’s flute untie the notes to rain
Parched heart’s quick to drench in words to quench thirst
Droplets poised and the lull’s almost broken

A rhythmic dance is to be seen at first
If there’s a deep depression at the bay
Parched heart’s quick to soak in words to quench thirst
A storm’s to brew to reach the sky they say

RHYTHM

courtesy : google image

Rivulets stream from pores
Raging sun
Bursts
2
Leaves burst hues to show off
Pride before
Fall
3
Snowfall will invoke Sleep
Migration
Starts
4
The Earth starts and wakes up
Butterflies
Stream

BICYCLE-THIEVES

poster of the movie Bicycle Thieves courtesy : google image
Two wheels became
Light, camera and sound
Poverty of post-war Italy
Hit the screen
 Untrained non-actors
Wheeled this De Sica Classic
Safely beyond boundary of time

FRIENDS

courtesy : google image
I have a friend
Dwelling inside me
She is sweet
Yet knows
When to be harsh
And hard
I don’t listen to her at all
When she is like that
I almost hate her then
I hear her chuckle
When salt clogs my throat
She is so unkind
Though in the stretched summer days
Or long dark winter nights
She speaks in fragrance
She is a friend in need
I am a shadow of her

I AM

courtesy : d'verse

I am existence
I am in relationship
With the universe
Dusts and the stars
Stare at me
We do feel related
The universe will be non-existent
When I shall cease to be
What lingers
When all is said and done?
