My Flower

source

A flower was offered to me,

It was the spirit of beauty

With its petals of innocence

It whispered in fragrance

To forget it never

As it won’t last forever

When the scented days were spent

I realized what My flower meant

  1. If only we could keep on blooming ourselves, but sadly that is not so. A wistfully sad poem Sumana.

  3. I echo my comment on Old Egg's poem - flowers symbolise so much..the very essence of life and survival..and also the fragility of being...it is often when we lose something that those flowers seem to touch us even more..a beautiful poem..

  9. Oh beauty, o sorrow. This poem is such a reminder to "be here now" in the beginnings and ripeness of life when beauty whispers with scent--beautiful imagery--so we need not look back in regret at what we missed.

  20. It has reminded me of the old HINDI song,

    AANEWALA PAL JAANE WAL HAI
    HO SAKETHO ISME ZINDAGE BITADO
    PAL JO YE JAANEWALA HAI

  22. Beautifully put, Sumana. It is so often we don't realise the worth of what is offered to us at the time it is offered. It is in retrospect that we realise its value...
