Our State Will Go To Poll Shortly
Black days to arrive soon
When will ensue
Battle of words
Wrong, right
Serrated and Blunt
By Right and Left
To lull the people
Into bizarre numbness
Dazed mass will vote
Ballot boxes
Will be in the limbo of a lull
Tough times ahead

On Truth
Courtesy: Prompt Nights
The world
Will slip away
One day
Yet
We all love
To dump
This truth
Into the future bin
Taking the world
For real
We amass
Shadows
In the twilight hours
The lone hands
Grope in the bin
Gather Truth
We sigh
Die
With Truth

Identity
![]() |
Bharatnatyam* Source
I really do not know
Who or what I am
All I feel is that
I am a bundle of consciousness
Entrapped in a weather beaten body
With a delusive mind
That often directs me
Into action
Making me its slave
A slave to its hunger
To its passions
To its desire
To its happiness
To its ailment
How I wish to break free
And have my own identity
What would that be like
I wonder though
May be a very abstract ‘I’
Without the attributes of a body,
A name, a gender, a religion,
A home, a language, a country
And never enthralled by this magic that world
is
It would perhaps be very out of this world
Will that ‘I’ be infinite, eternal
Omniscient and omnipotent
I really do not know
All I know is that
I am a spark of consciousness
Intent to end this slavery
To find out my true identity
* Bharatnatyam is a form of Indian classical dance. Here the right hand of the performer is in the pose of Bhramara(Bumble-bee)-Hasta(hand). Bumble bee is regarded as auspicious. The left hand fingers are in the pose of Alapadma(Fully bloomed lotus) hasta, the rotating lotus of spiritual life. The eyes are directed towards the supreme lord. The left leg is lifted, symbolizing the swift ascent of the consciousness in one step from earth to the heaven.

The Birds!
courtesy: google image
Hundreds of black crows
Shelter less by last night storm
Cawed in unison
Ceaselessly
To mourn
The death of their peer
By the electric wire
Dangling menacingly
For more prey

A Green Mirror
Source: Google Image
A green little pond
Is a rare sight in Kolkata these days
Icing on the cake is
There is a blue, blue kingfisher too
Swinging on the cable wire
Loosely hanging over the pond
Pondering perhaps:
To dive or not to dive
In the wink of an eye
It goes in
Fishes
There’s a silver flash
In its long brown beak
I am fed too
With happiness
How I wish this pond to hold on
To its fish-dream forever
If I had the power
I would hide it
From the greedy eyes of Real Estates

Courage
source: Morguefile
It’s an effort to breathe
Without cease
When each moment
Strives to stifle
It’s giving, embracing
Without a complaint
Everyday
It’s the gentle breeze
Of candle light
Blowing away
The dusty darkness
It’s burning, melting
Without a stir
Every night

Karma
source
The flaming desire
The abyss of ego
Will not let me be free
From this whirlwind-cycles of life
I come again and again
Bringing with me
The seed of my past karma
Nourish it with self love
And eat the fruit
When they are sweet
I cherish and lose myself in it
Creating more seeds
For this life, next life
When they taste bitter
Make me numb in sorrow
I groan
Play the blame-game
Will this feast never stop?
I wish to cut off all those tendrils of karma
That bind me to the flesh
Taking me away from Thou
My beloved God
Fill my every emptiness
With Thine thoughts
Let my desire be to see Thou
My beloved Lord
My beloved Father
My beloved Mother
My beloved Friend
My beloved Love
Let this little boat sail
Towards Thine shore
Thou alone Art True
All else is false, vain
Smeared with death
