Spring

In between glum sky

And dewy eyed, listless Earth

My tulip dreams spread

Grief is the shadowy hill

The sole silent onlooker

  2. I understand this one, Sumana. It is so very possible to feel the grief, yet enjoy the beauty of the tulips. Sometimes life is a balance, isn't it? But we hope that the field of tulips spreads and spreads.

  3. Oh, this reaches right into my heart, the listless earth, the shadowy hill of grief, and the hopeful tulips. So beautiful, Sumana.

  5. We everything seems lost, only the lucky ones (the ones with a beautiful heart) find strength in the beauty of the tulips. The alternative is to be consumed by grief... and that helps no one.

Wonderful photos at the pantry. Thanks for sharing.

  7. I think we can always turn to the natural world to seek comfort and sympathy. So well envisaged.

  9. From time to time, despite the grief we feel, still we manage to find a place or something from which we can pull out some inspiration to be happy. I hope the spreading Tulips have loaned you more than enough happiness you need. :)

  10. This drop of beauty in the midst of sadness at least is some small consolation. Fortunately there is room for dreams to spread farther.

  23. My take on this poem is this: It is good to have a witness to our grief, even if it is a silent hill.

  24. The colours (including the grey) were beautifully portrayed in your poem

  25. "Grief is the shadowy hill"- yes, it's always there, but the vibrancy of spring ousted it for the time being..

    Beautifully penned, Sumanadi... :-)

  26. Oh my, is so few words you express the contradiction of what is apparent to most--the beauty of spring--and how it is experienced by the sorrowing. Touching.
